DESCRIPTION
A curved brass tube worked in openwork filigree rests at the hollow of the throat, carried on a doubled black braided cord knotted with red and black thread beads. The tube is cast in the Dhokra way, its lattice built up in fine wax threads before the metal is poured, so light passes clean through the pattern. The cord ties at the back, so the fit is yours to decide. Worn by women who were never meant to blend in.
Style Note
The cord sits high, so it wants a bare neck: strapless, bandeau or a deep V with nothing else above it. Black on black makes the Dhokra filigree glow; white makes it graphic. Adjust the tie so the tube curves along the collarbone rather than below it. Easy enough for daily wear, striking enough for evening.
