Avoid wearing jewellery while bathing, swimming or doing household chores. Water, sweat, chlorine and chemicals (like cleaning agents or cosmetics) can erode finishes or cause tarnish.
It’s best to apply perfumes, lotions or deodorants first — let them dry completely — and then wear your jewellery. Direct contact of chemicals or cosmetics with metal can damage finishes or accelerate tarnishing.
Use a soft, dry cloth after every wear to wipe off oils, sweat or dust. For deeper cleaning: use a mild soap solution with lukewarm water, gently scrub with a soft-bristle brush (or cotton swab for detailed parts), then rinse and pat dry thoroughly.
No — oxidised jewellery has a deliberate dark/antique finish. Using abrasive polishes or harsh cleaning agents can strip this finish and ruin the look. Clean gently with soft cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners.
Store pieces separately (to avoid scratching), ideally in soft cloth pouches or a jewelry box. For oxidized or metal jewellery, use air-tight bags or containers (zip-lock or sealed box) to reduce exposure to air and humidity. Moisture and air accelerate tarnishing. Adding a small silica-gel pack or anti-tarnish strip helps.
For longer life and to preserve detailing/finish, it’s advisable to use Dhokra / tribal jewellery for occasional wear or special outfits rather than daily. Frequent exposure to sweat, pollution, humidity reduces life and may cause quicker tarnish.
Depending on the damage type — small dents or bends may be gently corrected; for tarnish or patina, gentle cleaning may help. However, avoid aggressive polishing.
