Two peacocks meet at the top of this stud, worked in oxidised silver, and beneath them a crescent of clustered pearls fans out, punctuated with ruby-pink stones and finished with tiny black beads along the hem. It sits close to the ear, wide rather than long, so it frames the face without hanging. The peacock crescent is a Maharashtrian and Deccan form, made for daily wear rather than display. Wear it with a cotton saree or a crisp shirt. Worn by women who were never meant to blend in.

How to style it
Wide studs flatter a high or closed neckline where a dangler would crowd, so pair them with a collar, a boat neck or a nauvari blouse. Ivory, sage and deep maroon all work beautifully.
