A magenta thread cord carries a fringe of brass hexagons and coin drops, each one tipped with a small turquoise bead that swings as you move. Magenta glass barrels and gold spacers run the length of the strand between the drops. This is Banjara vocabulary in full colour, the thread-and-metal craft of Kutch and Rajasthan where brightness was never something to apologise for. Worn by women who were never meant to blend in.

Style Note

Magenta and turquoise want a plain field, so wear it over ivory, white or unbleached cotton and never over print. The thread cord ties at the back, so set the length to sit just below the collarbone. A bandeau or square neckline frames the fringe cleanly. Made for festival mornings and warm-weather markets.
