DESCRIPTION
The bull's head at the centre is cast in the Dhokra tradition, its horns sweeping wide and its brow worked in the fine spiralled wirework that has marked this craft for four thousand years. Each piece is formed in wax, sheathed in clay and poured by hand, then freed by breaking the mould away. Coral-red beads and textured brass barrels ride the blackened chain on either side, and the matching drop earrings carry the same granulated spheres. Worn by women who were never meant to blend in.
Style Note
Made for a handloom saree or a kurta in undyed cotton, where the bull reads as sculpture rather than ornament. Ivory, ecru and deep indigo all suit it. The granulated earrings echo the pendant without competing, so wear both together. Right for festival days and craft-fair evenings.
